During cardiac arrest, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) involves using chest compressions and artificial ventilation to keep blood flowing and oxygen levels up. CPR Tampa is an American Heart Association training site that teaches healthcare and non-healthcare professionals in the Tampa area how to perform CPR.
Basic
Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric
Advanced Life Support (PALS) are among the CPR services we provide for
healthcare providers.
Basic Steps
Some
of the basic steps to perform CPR are:
Confirming if the person is fine:
It's critical to confirm that the person requires CPR before performing it. If
the individual awakens when you gently shake them and talk to them, don't start
CPR immediately away; instead, seek medical care right away, especially if they
appear disoriented or unable to communicate.
Dialing emergency number:
Even if you are successful in resuscitating the person using CPR, they must be
transported to the hospital as quickly as possible by ambulance. If you fail,
an EMT may be able to use medical equipment such as an automated external
defibrillator (AED) to resuscitate the victim.
Chest Compressions:
The brain is kept active by compressing the chest, which pushes blood through
it until the heart can restart. It's vital to maintain uninterrupted blood
flow. Chest compressions alone can be used to resuscitate a patient (without
rescue breathing).
Rescue Breathing:
Rescue breathing, also known as mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, involves using
your breath to fill a person's lungs with air and restore their ability to
breathe.
One
of the most contentious aspects of CPR is rescue breathing. The question of how
much is enough (or too much) and if it is even essential is still being
debated.
