Everything You Need To Know About The NeoCoV Virus

With the world battling the various mutations of the coronavirus, news of another type of virus has come to the fore. The new type of coronavirus that goes by the name NeoCoV can be traced back to a population of bats from South Africa (where it was first discovered) and till date is only known to spread among these animals. There are many questions on everyone’s minds in relation to this new type of coronavirus. This blog will try its level best to give you some concrete idea about this virus.

This indeed is a matter not to be taken lightly, however, it’s also not right to get into the panic mode as yet. Let us break the facts down for you to have a better understanding about the pathogen NeoCoV highlighted by Wuhan scientists. For starters, according to scientists the virus has the potential to adapt and infect humans in the upcoming future, which is what pressed the panic button amidst the already existent pandemic.

Let’s talk about what exactly is NeoCoV:

So contrary to what you may think, NeoCoV isn’t a new virus, but is a bat virus originally identified in 2011-12, found in species of bats called NEOROMICIA. It is supposed to take after the coronavirus that led to the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) in 2012 and hence the worry (due to the genomic similarity of NeoCoV to the MERS covid virus).

You may be wondering why this NeoCoV has generated so much interest suddenly. This newfound interest can be attributed to the fact that this virus uses the ACE2 receptor of the bat to enter cells of bat. This NeoCoV virus to date has not infected any human or killed human beings. NeoCoV hasn’t generated any infections in humans. According to doctors, this new virus isn’t capable to induce infection in human beings since it affects the bat ACE2 receptor and not the human ACE2 receptor. Also, no association has been found with the novel coronavirus that has taken a toll on the world.

But as per experts, you must exercise caution but in no way should you let panic get the better of you due to this new type of virus as this isn’t going to be a cause for another pandemic. Just stay aware while not falling for fake news. Studies are ongoing to find out if NeoCoV poses a risk to humans. The risk to humans is yet to be ascertained. Until that time keep abreast of latest developments while adhering to the Covid protocols. Also, it is imperative that you check for the authenticity of the news before sharing.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Algorithms for Respiratory and Cardiac Arrests

Introduction Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) algorithms provide healthcare providers with systematic approaches to managing respiratory and cardiac emergencies in children. These evidence-based protocols are designed to optimize outcomes by offering clear, sequential steps for assessment and intervention during critical situations. Understanding and implementing PALS algorithms correctly can be the difference between life and death for pediatric patients experiencing respiratory distress or cardiac arrest. The Importance of PALS Algorithms in Pediatric Care Respiratory and cardiac emergencies in children differ significantly from those in adults. Children have unique anatomical and physiological characteristics that influence how they respond to respiratory failure and cardiac arrest. For instance, respiratory issues frequently precede cardiac arrest in pediatric patients, unlike in adults, where primary cardiac events are more common. PALS algorithms account for these dif...

Facts About Bicuspid Aortic Valve Disease

The aortic valve is a one-way valve between the heart and the aorta, regulating blood flow from the heart into the aorta. It is the main artery from the ticker/the major blood vessel that distributes oxygen-rich blood to the body, and also prevents the blood from flowing back from the aorta into the ticker when the pumping chamber relaxes. Bicuspid Aortic Valve Disease (BAVD) is one of the most common congenital heart conditions that can go unrecognized for years without incident. Surgery is the only fix once it starts to cause problems. Normally, the aortic valve has three small flaps or leaflets that open widely and close securely to send oxygenated blood on a one-way route from the heart to the aorta. But in bicuspid aortic valve disease (BAVD), the valve has only two leaflets, which can cause life-threatening problems. This congenital heart condition affects about 1-2 percent of the population, and it is twice as likely to develop in men, might go unrecognized for years i...
